The Art of Scratchboard
Scratchboard is created by removing India ink from the surface to expose the white clay coat on a masonite board. This reverse form of art creates highlights and leaves the black surface for the shadows. Sometimes the scratch is sharp and hard edged. Sometimes it is soft, depending on the tools used.
